188. NASA has never produced pictures to show the Earth is an oblate sphere or pear shaped

"Over the years NASA has twice changed their story regarding the shape of the Earth. At first they maintained Earth was a perfect sphere, which later changed to an “oblate spheroid” flattened at the poles, and then changed again to being “pear-shaped” as the Southern hemisphere allegedly bulges out as well. Unfortunately for NASA, however, none of their official pictures show an oblate spheroid or pear-shaped Earth! All their pictures, contrary to their words, show a spherical (and clearly CGI fake) Earth."

What is it with flat earthers and their NASA fixation!  Here Dubay exaggerates extravagantly in order to make people believe his lame proof

It was widely accepted that the Earth was a sphere since the 12th century and Isaac Newton 1643-1727 first proposed that Earth was an oblate spheroid, confirmed by measurements soon after.  A little early for NASA to be involved.

NASA’s IGY Vanguard I satellite launched in 1958 did indeed show that there was a slight extra bulge in the southern hemisphere.

How big are these deviations from the sphere that we are supposed to be able to see?

The Earth has been measured to be 27 miles wider at the Equator than from pole to pole.  That is a difference of 0.3%.  Hardly a difference that we would expect to be visible.

What about the “Pear shape” mentioned.  This refers to the fact that the South Pole is a mere 131 feet closer to the equator than the North Pole.  That is a minuscule difference of 0.006%.

I would do a similar image comparison for you but with a resolution of 1080 x 1080 the difference is less than one pixel!

Did Dubay just not bother to look up what was meant by the Earth being an oblate sphere or pear shaped, or did he deliberately exaggerate in order to take in the gullible?  I don’t know.  He has already been shown to be disinterested in verifying his “facts”, incompetent at interpreting scientific information and willing to shamelessly spout outright lies, so your guess is as good as mine.

I also can't figure out just what Dubay is trying to prove here.  Does he imagine that NASA decided to make up a story about the Earth being oblate but forgot to alter the fake photos that they were releasing?   Then a few years later they decided that it would be a good idea to tell everyone that the Earth was pear shaped even though they had already released photos that did not look pear shaped.

I'd be fascinated to know what reason Dubay thinks NASA would have for doing this.
