108. If the Earth were a sphere compasses would point down at a steep angle

"The mariner’s compass is an impossible and non-sensical instrument for use on a ball-Earth. It simultaneously points North and South over a flat surface, yet claims to be pin-pointing two constantly moving geomagnetic poles at opposite ends of a spinning sphere originating from a hypothetical molten metal core. If compass needles were actually drawn to the North pole of a
globe, the opposing “South” needle would actually be pointing up and off into outer- space."

Dubay does not understand magnetic fields.

I think what Dubay is trying to say is that a compass points directly at the single point on the Earth that is the North Pole, and so if you were, say near the equator, on a spherical Earth the "north" needle would be pointing down at a steep angle, and consequently the "south" end would be pointing up into space.

Again, another thing that Dubay doesn’t understand and hasn’t bothered to look into.  A compass DOES NOT point to the point on the Earth that is the North Pole.  It aligns itself with the magnetic field lines.

However as you can see from the diagram above,  the magnetic lines do in fact point down at quite a steep angle over most of the Earth’s surface.  So the very phenomenon that Dubay explains, i.e. “the needle pointing up and off into space” can actually be observed!

In fact the definition of the magnetic poles is that the field lines and consequently the compass needle points vertical.

So according to Dubay he has just proved that the Earth is a sphere!

See the videos's below to see compasses pointing down at an angle.

The only thing that has been proved here is that Dubay does not understand what he is talking about and does not bother to verify that anything he talks about is actually true.  H just makes things up.
