142. On a flat Earth you would not be able to see across the oceans

"People claim that if the Earth were flat, they should be able to use a telescope and see clear across the oceans! This is absurd, however, as the air is full of precipitation especially over the oceans, and especially at the lowest, densest layer of atmosphere is NOT transparent. Picture the blurry haze over roads on hot, humid days. Even the best telescope will blur out long before you could see across an ocean. You can, however, use a telescope to zoom in MUCH more of our flat Earth than would be possible on a ball 25,000 miles in circumference."

And?

The distance that you can see is obviously dependent on atmospheric conditions.  There is no point in trying to come up with a figure for how far we should be able to see because I can’t actually put it to the test.  There is also no point in arguing for refraction as he means by which we can see beyond the horizon because flat earthers simply deny it.

Let us ignore that I have been unable to find a claim by a "globe Earth believer" let alone a scientist that we would be able to see over the oceans on a flat Earth ....   Dubay’s point does nothing to prove that the Earth is flat, it simply refutes one possible argument against a flat Earth.

There are however many arguments that cannot be so easily dismissed.
