126. Seasons are not caused by the Earths axial tilt and orbit around the Sun

"The Sun’s annual journey from tropic to tropic, solstice to solstice, is what determines the length and character of days, nights and seasons. This is why equatorial regions experience almost year-round summer and heat while higher latitudes North and especially South experience more distinct seasons with harsh winters. The heliocentric model claims seasons change based on the ball-Earth’s alleged “axial tilt” and “elliptical orbit” around the Sun, yet their flawed current model places us closest to the Sun (91,400,000 miles) in January when its actually winter, and farthest from the Sun (94,500,000 miles) in July when its actually summer throughout most of the Earth."

Another lie from Dubay.

The elliptical orbit of Earth is not responsible for the seasons

The claim that science says that the seasons are related to the Earth's elliptical orbit around the Sun is false.  Consequently science does not claim that the distance of the Earth from the Sun affects the seasons and this point is completely irrelevant.

This is just Dubay making things up again to try and give some credibility to what is just an opinion stated without evidence.

Why do seasons occur?

If you are interested in what actually creates the seasons, read on.

The Seasons are caused by the axial tilt and the orbit of the Earth around the Sun, and not because the orbit is elliptical.

Due to the axial tilt, when it is summer in the northern hemisphere, the northern hemisphere  is tilted towards the Sun and receives more sunlight.  In winter the northern hemisphere is tilted away from the Sun and receives less sunlight.  The situation is reversed in the southern hemisphere.

Although the seasons are not caused by the elliptical orbit, the orbit does affect how much of the Sun's energy reaches the Earth.  Because the northern hemisphere is further away from the Sun in summer it receives  7% less of the sun’s energy than the southern hemisphere does in summer.  We might expect this to make summers in the northern hemisphere cooler than those in the southern hemisphere but it turns out that because the northern hemisphere has more land, the sun heats up the land more which in turn heats up the air more.  These two phenomenon end up cancelling each other out.

Dubay's diagram is bogus

Dubay tries to mislead with exaggerated diagrams.
From https://phys.org/news/2014-11-earth-orbit-sun.html
"The planet's distance from the Sun also varies as it orbits. In fact, the Earth is never the same distance from the Sun from day to day. When the Earth is closest to the Sun, it is said to be at perihelion. This occurs around January 3rd each year, when the Earth is at a distance of about 147,098,074 km. When it is at its farthest distance from the Sun, Earth is said to be at aphelion – which happens around July 4th where the Earth reaches a distance of about 152,097,701 km"
Note how relatively close the minimum and maximum distances from the Sun are.  That is a difference of 3.4%.  Not much at all.
